STASH · IPHONE & IPAD

Privacy policy

Your clips belong to you. Stash stores them on your device and, when you enable iCloud sync, in your private iCloud account. Chen does not operate a server that receives your saved collection.

What Stash stores

Stash keeps content you add, including text, links, images, files and file references, with information such as dates, source-app details, pinned status and stacks. Preferences, local drafts and caches help the app work.

Finding useful details, splitting text into pieces, joining selections and recognizing text in images run on your device. Optional writing tools use Apple’s on-device model when available. Stash does not send your text or prompts to a developer-operated AI service.

Clipboard, files and camera

Stash reads content when you paste, share, import or scan it. If you enable Capture when I open Stash, it can also read the clipboard when the app becomes active, subject to the system’s paste permissions. Turn this option off in Settings at any time. Stash does not continuously read other apps’ clipboards in the iOS background.

The share extension receives only what you choose to share. File and photo pickers provide the items you select. Scanning text uses the camera permission requested by iOS; saving an image to Photos uses the system’s Photos permission.

Private iCloud sync

Stash Plus can synchronize your Tape and Shelf through Apple’s CloudKit. This transfers saved clips, images, files, stacks and associated information to your private iCloud database. The developer cannot access that private database. Some preferences and drafts remain local.

Sync depends on your iCloud account, network connection and available storage. Local storage or an “Up to date” status on one device is not proof that a particular clip has arrived on another device. Apple’s handling of iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and your account settings.

Purchases

Apple processes the optional Stash Plus one-time purchase. Stash uses StoreKit’s verified transaction status to check ownership, restore access and respond to refunds or revocations. Stash does not receive your payment-card details or send purchase receipts to a developer-operated server.

Purchase ownership and iCloud availability are separate. Losing access to sync does not delete your local collection or existing iCloud data. Stash Plus uses your existing iCloud storage; it does not add storage.

Keyboard, widgets and extensions

The app, share extension, widgets and keyboard use a shared storage area on your device for saved clips and preferences. The keyboard needs Allow Full Access to read those saved clips. Its typing and insertion controls do not upload keystrokes or surrounding text, and the keyboard itself does not make network requests.

You can remove the keyboard or disable Full Access in iOS Settings. Text inserted into another app is then handled by that app and its privacy policy.

Website requests and link previews

When loading a link preview, Stash contacts the linked website and related image hosts for titles, images or icons. Those services receive the requested URL and normal connection information, such as your IP address, and may keep logs under their own policies. Turn off Settings → Capture & privacy → Load link previews to stop automatic preview loading. Requests you explicitly make by opening a link or refreshing it remain possible.

To display a source-app icon, Stash may send that app’s bundle identifier to Apple’s lookup service and download its icon. Saved text is not included in that request.

Support you choose to send

Stash does not automatically send your saved clips or support logs to Chen. Settings → Data → Help & feedback lets you prepare an email with a diagnostics attachment. It can include the app version and build, device and system details, locale, iCloud account availability and recent log metadata. Log message text is excluded from the generated diagnostics. You review the message and decide whether to send it.

If you email support, Chen receives your email address, message and any attachments, and uses them to investigate and respond. Review attachments and remove anything you do not want to disclose. Correspondence is kept as needed to resolve the request and maintain support records; you can request deletion by email.

No advertising or tracking

Stash has no advertising or tracking SDKs, does not sell personal information and does not require a separate Stash account. Apple may provide App Store or diagnostic reports under its services and your device settings.

This website has no advertising, analytics code or contact form added by Chen. Its interactive example runs in your browser. The hosting provider may process normal connection information to serve the site.

Retention, backups and deletion

Saved content remains until you delete it or a configured history limit removes it. Age-based cleanup is off by default. It preserves pinned clips, clips in stacks and clips that are open. You can review retention settings under Settings → Tape → Keep the tape for.

Deletions sync when iCloud sync is enabled and working. Removing the app does not guarantee deletion of iCloud data or exported backups. Manage Stash’s iCloud storage in your Apple account settings where available. The developer cannot retrieve or delete your private iCloud collection for you.

Backups may contain your text, images, files, links and stacks. They are stored where you choose, including iCloud Drive if selected. Backups and copies exported or shared outside Stash must be deleted separately.
